Sorry for asking a question that probably sounds really stupid but...

I'm trying to send a file about 1.4Mbs in size to a friend but can't find a way of doing it bcos their connection is crap. I've tried attaching it in a hotmail email but that didnt work, I've tried sending it through msn messenger but that would've taken hours. Any help would be much appreciated!

If it's not already compressed you could also try zipping it to save space.

http://www.7-zip.org/ has the best all round compression for windows users and it's only 1 MB

Winzip is shareware so avoid, there are plenty of free alternatives.

Stick it on a cd and put it in the post!

I know, I know very old tech, but if you are like me and on a dial-up connection when at home(16.8 connection, download speed 1.1kb/sec)
    sometimes its the only answer!

Thats about the half the country. Seriously. Eircom put down some awful shoddy lines during the eighties in rural Ireland. Theres a load of places in Roscommon, Mayo, Galway and Leitrim that can't decent dialup. I've had to resort to dial-up via mobile phone in some places.

    LOL :D 700MB CD for 1.4MB file

    That would be funny alright!

Seriously though, I do feel sorry for those of you with slow connections... Hang in there!

ME: Yes I think I will go for your Wi-Fly TCP option

Eircom: good choice, that will be 22.99 per month, also we are required to inform you that there is a download limit of 30PPM's (pigeons per month)
we cannot be held responsible for carrier loss(for which you will be charged at euro 20 PP), as this is new technology.
We will have one of our engineers drop by to install your new carrier generator
(Pigeon's nest) we cannot however guarantee carrier service for 1-2 months post installation, A third party carrier generator may be installed during this initial period, but eircom cannot service this nor can we be held responsible for adverse interactions between our proprietry generator and aftermarket systems, these interactions may also viod your warranty.
Eircom also retains the ownership of the carrier generator (cg), and the signals (sometimes kinown as carrier flights or cf's) emanating from it . We also reserve the right to reclaim our CG and any CF's if the bill is not paid or any portion of the PP invoice remains outstanding, PPM allowance may not be carried over from one month to another, and may not be exceeded!

ME: yeah Ill take it, its still better than what I have.
