    Hi all,

I know this topic is probably done to death but I tried searching and couldn't find anything relevant to me...

I'm trying to build a TV/Entertainment system for my bedroom. Now I want some computer functionality etc, so it'll have to be a PC... Now I've been looking around, doin some research. I've picked out some items from komplett... but here's the rub and I hope ya'll can help me out. I want it done as cheaply as possible!! But with a bit of expandibility for when the taxman backs off!!

Now I'll just want the normal channels(RTE) maybe a bit more... play some dvds and Some music.... Now I'll want a bit of 5.1 sound too....
PC fan noise isn't a big deal. The case has to be kinda small so was thinking of going shuttle but if the price is good I'll go full size.

So any ideas? HAve people bought kit that was good but cheap... I'm not really tryin to future proof that much.. What kind of screen for example...

Any help would be much appreciated and nothing will be off topic in this thread, if ya have any ideas through them in!

    Thanks

Id go with sempron over celeron anyway. Cheaper alternative and better.

Card-wise, the hauppage PVR 500 is good. It has two tuners whic enables yoiu t watch one station while you record another, to record two stations of course!

If you intend watching HDTV content in the future, you may also consider an nvidia graphics card with 128MB of texture memory and a CPU in the region of 2.8Ghz or equiv.

Software wise, windows MCE is probably the best all in solution, but its costs money. You can install a program called media portal which is free on windows 2000 or XP

Your last option is MythTv which runs on linux. Its the dogs danglies but can be trciky to setup.

    Mobo/RAM/CPU... this is a bit dodgy I feel.... €167

    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=115890

    OS: €130
Windows Media Centre Edition - OEM
    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=315135

    TV Card: €135
    Hauppauge! WinTV-PVR-500MCE, Tv-card w/radio and 2 tuners, 1 pack Bulk
