I need to find which processors I can upgrade to from a 3Ghz Dell that was bought about a year and a half ago, like what socket the chip is so I can go to Komplett? Anyone upgraded something like this that can point me in the right direction?

    Thanks.

Prob a skt 478. Check what model the sys is and the socket type should be on the Dell site

Thanks lads, it's for my brothers Christmas present and he's in college so I may not get a chance to see the machine, but 478 does sound about right as I think he mentioned it before. Thanks again :)

You need to check what the bios supports too....the only dell I ever owned didn't offer much in the room of processor upgrade support.

Is there any point upgrading? You will hardly notice the difference... For the money you could buy something like a TFT, big hard drive, lots of ram, etc etc and would be a better return on your investment.

I agree. It's pointless upgrading a 3ghz processor, unless you are moving to an AMD FX-51 or something!

A nice 19inch TFT with 8ms response time for €300 would be A LOT better :)

Yeah, dont bother with the processor upgrade.
A nice TFT or more ram is a good idea :)
