Ofcom has upheld 23 complaints over the frequency of ad breaks during Channel 4's Lost.

Viewers had complained that the breaks were too close together and lasted too long, and that the programme often began early and finished late.

reducing the amount of new editorial material for each episode to only around 36 minutes

-as appossed to an 65mins is it?

i didn't think c4 went too mad with advertising but I don't know how they can stick programs in the US, where your half hour slot show is only 20 mins long??? I never understood the 1 minutes sections they have in oprah when before they go on another break?

thank god for those cousins skipping the breaks

The worst thing aout american ads is that at the end of a show, say friends, the very end of the episode, ie the last minute, usually after the credits is actually tagged onto the start of the new show so there is no ad beween shows, instead there is an ad before that 1 minute finale so if you want to see the whole program you have to wait through another ad break. Horrible. Don't know how they stick it.

Yep but you'd get used to it eventually or just watch HBO which doesnt bombard you with ad's.

Simple its how they get revenue....Dont like ad's myself and Id say in future over here it will eventually get like our american counterparts.

And it will happen slowly so we wont notice it. Until one day the shows are a break from the ads.

Epilogue. All american shows still follow the old Act I, Act II, Act III, Act IV, Epilogue structure.

I don't think that'll be happening here anytime soon, I assume that in the states the simpsons last thirty minutes with ads, just as it does here. So we get all our ads done in one block, while over there, the ads are spread over a few breaks. This isn't a new thing, it's been going on for years, so I doubt the channels over here are gonna change.

Or The Streets of San Francisco. Ah the memories :v:

I guess it's better here the way the ads come in large chunks, rather than many, many, many small chunks. You've gotta love ad-free TV though ;)

Yes, BBC is a Godsend! ;)

Its because it goes straight into the next show without an ad so you see the start of that show and stick around.
Works well enough and isn't as annoying as you'd think.

    What?!

Not sure when but should be soon.
By loyal I mean giving them credit. They are brining in ads therefore there is no point in rating them higher than any other station.

Where did you hear that they were bringing in ads anyway?

And I was joking about "BBC being a Godsend". I was referring to torrents in general, and their lack of ads.
