Vhs to Pc

    Hi Guys
    Sorry if posted in the wrong section or mentioned before but i cant find it anywhere on the boards.......

    Anyways im looking to back up some vhs aswell as some stuff from my camcorder onto the Pc.The camcorder is a sony digital 8 one but when i use the included cable and download from the camcorder to pc the picture quality is terrible no matter what settings i use.

    I was just wondering would this

    Solve both my problems or will i still have the issue of bad quality(i think i remember someone saying to me the usb is no good for transfaring video???)

    Your image quality is never going to improve when converting from analogue to digital.

    The faults in the analogue image are just going to be digitized.

    USB is a digital communication method.
    No data or quality is lost during digital transfer, thats the point.

    What type of cable have you already tried ?
    Is the quality worse than when you watch it on TV ?

    Shouldn't be a perceptual difference though.I've had videos converted to dvd's and they're clear as day.

    Looks like you have to use your video cables into a "pinnacle box" and connect by firewire to the pc. Check out the Packard Bell link first. Hope this helps.

    Do a google for the DAC-100 from Datavideo. My sister uses it all the time for grabbing VHS to her PC, great piece of kit.
