I am hopping to get sky multi room installed for the Christmas. I do not want to trail phone wires around the house and I looked at the possibility of getting a "one for all wireless phone line extender" to hook up to the sky digibox.

Does anynone know if these work in the Republic of Ireland with the sky didibox?

Yes, they do. I've seen a few households with them. Dunno how reliable they are, but for all Sky uses the line for, grand.

I tried to buy one of these in Maplin (the OneForAll one)- the guy said they don't work with Sky - something to do with Tone and Pulse dialling. I know the guy and he used to have his own electrical shop and was a Sky installer so I assuming he had a bit of a clue.

Yes, they do work with the digibox's, I have 2 recievers and one sender, one for the main box and one for the " multiroom " box, they do mess up your broadband tho', but i think there is some sort of filter you can get, or unplug the sender during your internet usage times..also if you don't have both boxes connected you WILL get letters from Sky about this threatning to charge you full whack twice as your mate down the road could be availing of your subsidised subcripition...........

I use the One For All units to connect two Sky boxes in different rooms with a phone line in another room and they work perfectly well. I was getting loads of letters from Sky before this threatening to start charging me for two subscriptions.
