Some of the Outlook system files have corrupted and I cannot start the program.

Is there a way i can retrieve the settings and most importantly the e-mails to restore to a fresh install?

I have a HDD image from a few months ago, could I just copy the system files over from that?

    Which version ?

recent versions of outlook have a repair option in add/remove programs

    Command-line switches for Outlook 2003
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HP010031101033.aspx

Outlooks stores emails in a .PST file - search for it
NB. the file format changed so outlook 2000 and earlier will not read later files

If using Outlook Express then that is a totally different product, everything apart from the name is different and TBA CBA learning anything about it.

sorry, it's Outlook 2000 as part of MS Office package running on xp.

I have found the .pst file so i should be able to restore that at least.
