Thought of this for many trades and services. I can imagine it would be fraught with legal difficulties.

    Hi,

Very dangerous territory, an advertisor (doesn't deserve the title builder) charged two old Ladies today's equal of some €12,000.00 for clearing a blockage in a toilet.

He not only kept the money but sued the publication and was awarded enough money to buy a nice house, the case was won on many of the examples of the same way the legal profesion could set their own rates on a per client basis.

I don't think anyone wants to post about the builder from hell only to hand over the keys of their house at a later date.

I have a feeling some of them will be rating themselves :)

This could be of use... www.pickapro.ie although has customer testimonials more than a rating system....

We fell victim to our neighbours builders and they (the 'builders' appeared with glowing reports on one of those 'recommend a pro builder websites'. These 'builders' absolutely trashed our house and garden in the process of building our neighbours house extension. You should read how wonderful they are on this website. Eventually they were fired after months of negligence. I would have absolutely no faith in that website as I'm sure it was written by the builders themselves.

You do realise that you have quoted a 10 year old post?

I now do. Thought it was contemporary ........... should have guessed by the price, but I still think it's an urban myth. Unless there is a valid second side ....... no judge would come up with that.
