A "green" way of wrapping christmas presents is to wrap them in a new tea towel or pretty hand towel. You get two presents - the actual gift and a new towel (rather than the crap wrapping paper).

I was given the Freeplay wind up/solar radio last year for Christmas and it's great, i leave it by the window and i've never had to charge it. It's very light and easy to carry around as well. I'm a big fan.

This was mentioned in the irish times today, it's a thingy that makes biodegradable seed pots out of old newspaper. The seedlings and paper pot can then be planted straight into the ground. It's 19.99 euro:
