socket number

    im ordering a new motherboard and i want to use my current processor. how do i find out it socket number. from the system properties box all i can get is this amd athlon x86 family 6 model 4" i dont even know if this is the proper whatever.... it seems a bit mad or something.... but when i google this nothin relevant comes up.

    any ideas???

    right i got it, its an amd athlon socket A, but on komplett i cant find any mother boards with socket a... is that another name for another socket number??

    Socket A is right. But it's a bit dated at this stage. Komplett must not be stocking them any more.

    Komplett dont seem to have them but overclockers.co.uk have them i am sure other places do aswell

    Yeah socket A is a bit out of date you'll have trouble finding boards for it.
