    Hi There

Very unusual time of the year to be talking about 'lift conditions' but I have to post this one!

As you might know I'm on the other side of the water.. in west Wales - 700ft asl usually get all the stuff from Kippure/Mt.
Leinster in Ireland. Tonight its gone crazy!

On DAB I'm getting the NI Score Digital Multiplex - medium signal strength.
On FM BBC Radio Ulster 94.5 - very strong RDS.

All Dublin Independent stations - 104.4/98.1/103.2/103.8/106.4/106.8 and
from Cork - Cork 103.3 and the low powered 103.7FM.

TV - TV3/TG4 from Mount Leinster and Mullaghanish on the Cork/Kerry border.
As well as 3 versions of RTE on VHF.

    Anyone else experiencing this??

    Marc

It's not unusual to be talking about tropo at this time of year - when there's a very settled period of high pressure its the perfect conditions for it. At this time of year it is usually foggy (like it is here at the moment) while during the summer it is clear, warm and sunny (usually!)

And the conditions for tropo here haven't been better for years! I'm getting my first DAB tropo with a rabbit ears in an attic  Digital 1 on 11D is booming in (I was expecting it to be 12A from Scotland but no sign of it) - reception this evening has been very stable - listening to Virgin right now! Also for a short time the Score Glasgow multiplex came in on 11C (incredible considering the co-channel with RTÉ1 analogue TV from Truskmore) with bubbly but listenable reception but it has now disappeared. MXR North West also came in but didn't come in strong enough to rise beyond murky bubbles.

Analogue TV - nothing coming in from the usual suspects Darvel or Black Hill funnily enough. However I'm getting pictures on channels 41 and 44 (with something on 47 and 51 along with a co-channeled channel 5 on 37) to suspect its Cambret Hill in Dumfries - so that's Channel 5 wiped out in most of Greater Belfast for the moment then!

Away for further fiddling, especially on DTT and FM, though on the FM band earlier the usual Dublin stations blasted through while the best one was probably Smooth FM from NW ENgland on 100.4.

Today has been one mad day for terrestrial TV. All day we've been receiving the four terrestrials from Divis, and some radio stations too!

As I speak, in Listowel, Co. Kerry...

    21 - Channel 4 - Very watchable
24 - UTV - Fades in and out
    27 - BBC 2 - Quite watchable
    31 - BBC 1 - Poor

I also picked up BBC Radio 4 and Radio 1 earlier. And Lyric FM on 87.8 from Clermont!

My friend Michael found this earlier, hats off to him for alerting me to it. :)

Yes, and the only reason I found them is because my TV3 from Maghera has been fading in and out! First spotted UTV at about 1:40p.m. today and received decent Channel 4 at around 9:55p.m. Will be a shame to lose the high pressure :D

P.S. This signal must have travelled a good 200+ miles.

For the first time last night, I got a very bubbly Talk Sport (<10%) on my DAB radio in Ashtown. Never got a DAB signal down here at ground level, but as Talk Sport isnt on any multiplex up north, it's from England! :D

    Digital One Multiplex, that is.

I must have a scan on the old DAB tonight. Nothing special on TV - just more instances of what I have already.

Another great night again tonight lads!

Temporarily lost the old Score digital last night... but hey back there again tonight. Even got Radio Ulster on 93.8 earlier.. don't know what TX that was!

Cork stations still on 103.3 and 103.7, Midlands Radio 3 on 103.5, All the dub stations and one called '- WILD -' on the RDS on 106.6 - is that some sort of pirate??

Score NI DAB multiplex back tonight... loud and clear. No major TV stuff going on... a bit of Mullaghanish next to Mount Leinster. My aerial for Irish UHF isn't wide band or else I reckon we'd get Kippure and Three Rock. If it wasn't so fecking cold I'd try and turn it round a bit to get Divis! Very close to Blaenplwyf tho I think.

Got a station called Argyle FM on 107.7 too - but it was very weak.

    Marc

DMC - West Wales is set to get DAB from next year with Preseli, Blaenplwyf and Arfon going digital - you're bound to get something!

Radio Ulster, 93.8 - that's Brougher Mountain. If that's an "opening" try 101.2 FM for Q101 and 96.6 for Downtown.

Wild FM on 106.6 is indeed a country & western pirate station based in Co.Monaghan.

I'll compile my list later, though on the DAB front, add to last night Score Ayr and EMAP Liverpool making brief appearences on 11B, with Digital 1 on 12A coming in and out from excellent to weak and bubbly. On the FM front I received Dune FM of Southport with a weak but perfectly listenable signal on 107.9 earlier this evening - not bad for a 100W station!
