    Lo peeps

Am looking for a little advice plus help

My Amilo A1630 display keeps freezing and fading to white at random times while in use (can happen while playing games or while using the internet or even while she is on desktop doing nothing)
After this happens the screen will not come back to life for about 30 mins (system is off for 30+ mins before anything is seen on the screen again)

All beeps and everything seems are normal and it all sounds fine just nothing on screen

Now I have sent the system back for repair and they replaced the motherboard and CPU (this was 3 weeks ago) system is 6 months old

System came back and all was fine but the same thing has started to happen again

all graphics drivers are upto date
    system is not over heating
    its just an odd error

Just wondering if anyone has come accross this before
or if anyone may know what the cause may be

I am at the stage where I am thinking of getting my money back

    thanks in advance
    BH

    Demand a replacement :)

I have a 1630, and its been trouble free for over a year now (except the Power supply going pop) and its an excellent machine.
Have you flashed the latest bios (1.03c)?

Thats the thing if i get a replacement i loose everything on the HDD
and a new motherboard + CPU is near the same as getting a replacement

Have not looked into the bios yet (dont know why as i have tried everything else)
Its a great machine and i would like to keep it but at this stage i just want my data

remove the HD and connect it to another machine, then back up. You can get a 2.5" to 3.5" convertor that will allow you to connect HD to a desktop.

If you do that - you invalidate your warranty.

Did you try the bios thing? It's available on Fujitsus site.

I doubt they changed the cpu when they changed the motherboard as it wouldnt be a CPU problem.
It could well be the cable connecting the screen that is the problem, hence why I suggested asking for a replacement. How long can you have it on for before dying & how much data do you need to get off it?

Have you tried pluggin in an external monitor?

It's unlikely that they'd give a replacement. They'd take it back for another repair and perhaps check out the LCD,etc.
Does it happen in the BIOS? Does it work on an external VDU?
Backup by going into Safe Mode+Networking and transfer to another machine. It's also worth noting if the issue occurrs in Safe Mode as well.
(I wouldn't recommend removing the HDD as you're prone to damage your machine/invalidate your warranty)

The "white out" can happen at any point while within the OS
there is no warning at all and windows does not even report an error that the system has failed

The motherboard and CPU where replaced (according to Fujitsu Siemens anyway) and the system runs alot cooler then it did before hand

have not tried an external monitor yet (will do that tonight)(will also update the bios while there) but with the system prone to failing at any point this is very risky

will be running afew more tests on the system myself tonight and also trying what you all have said

It took 4 weeks for them to send her back on the last repair and if sent back to them now it will not be back till after christmas

keep the ideas comming peeps any help is great

dont try the bios flash until after you have found out whether or not the external monitor works!
I had a small issue of the screen light not coming back on after I had close the lid, but the nios update fixed this...
I assume you are using the correct screen resolution? it could be that the graphics card software is screwing up and expanding the resolution above native?
(FN+F4 will switch between external screen and laptop screen btw)
Have you tried a graphics driver update?

Will be connecting the system upto the pc screen tonight to see if that helps
the screen resolution maybe the cause of it so will look into that also
I will try anything before i send the system back again (4 weeks is a long time without a system that is used daily)
