Minox IIIs

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone is familiar with Minox cameras? I only stumbled upon their cameras a few months ago, and out of pure interest I bought an old model IIIs on eBay (sometimes refered to as a Minox A model). The original Minox was first designed in 1934-36 by Walter Zapp and put into production in 1938, remaining pretty much the same until it was succeeded by the Minox B in 1958..
What is really amazing about it is the size of the thing, mine is about 8 x 2.8 x 1.5mm (half the size of my Canon IXUS 50) , which is what gave it the 'spy camera' status.. but as far as I know it wasn't originally designed with that in mind. The film negative is only 8 x 11 mm.

The camera I bought was manufactured in 1955, so it's a late model IIIs. It seems to be working properly, but I've only just gotten film for it, and have yet to have the photos developed!

The light meter is separate to the camera itself and unfortunately mine doesnt seem to work. Maybe I can have it repaired, I'll have to look into it.

Well anyway let me know if you have ever come across these before! Also I don't know of any places in Ireland that offer any kind of support for them (or even the new ones) so if you do details would be appreciated! At the moment I am in Hamburg, where it's much easier to find shops stocking the film and other bits and pieces for it :)
