Who's going? I think Wreck Of The Hesperus are on the bill too.

Trip to the smart shop might be in order ;)

I'll be there. Look for the man with a beard and a blue Merzbow t-shirt.

    Word of warning:

Bring money. Apparently the merchandise stall is loaded with tour goodies like CDs and DVDs and vinyl and t-shirts and a Khanate hip flask!

Great  just kidding, I actually like metal but most places are crap on Monday nights, is there a late bar after?

What a gig! Jebus, I anihilated me.

Wreck of the Hesperus were on first and there was a definite uncomfortable air in the room whislt they were on - excellent! :D I'm alsmot ashamed to admit it, but that was only my first time seeing them live. Bit of a goblet with the sound at the start, but they got that sorted and went on to terrify!

Oak came on next - not quite my thing, but theres definitely a time and a place for it. Some seriously cool riffs but the bass player wasn't quite up to speed I think.

    Then came Khanate - wow!
They got to use the full power of the PA and it really showed. At this stage in the review I should point out that I did a night shift at work Sunday night and didn't get any sleep for the whole day. I also spent the day getting wrecked ;) So, when Khanate started, I was feeling a bit tired (awake for about 30 hours by now) and the couple of pints I'd had were starting to take hold. I stood and wobbled around on the spot with the power of their music. I staggered to the bar for something to hold on to and carefully sipped my pint so I wouldn't get thrown out for being a slobbery drunk! It was awe-inspiring the physical effect it had on me - made all the more apparant when the gig came to an end (just as my body and brain were about to go into complete shut-down and have me collapse on the spot) and I came back to life as the lights came up and the air in the gig returned to normal.

This is why we go to gigs.

If you were there, I hope you had as frightening a time as me! If you missed it - for shame...

Ah John2! I do distinctly remember seeing someone with a Merzbow T-shirt right in the middle of things. If you recall someone with a beige jacket (and big hair) that was probably me.

As for the gig, Kharn said it all really. To be honest, even though I quite liked Oak I felt they were a bit out of place in between Wreck Of The Hesperus and Khanate. I also very much liked Khanate's effects-manipulated "thank you" right at the end, that's one way to leave.

I don't remember much of the night. Whilst I was completely sober you may have noticed me swaying quite a lot during Khanate as I "got in the zone". I was really buzzing off the vibes (Christ I sound like a hippie!). It really was a terrific gig. I did a review of it here. Also, I took a few pictures and the best of them can be seen here. :v:
