Problems FTPing to XBox

I've got a modded xbox running Xecuter2 and am having a problem ftping large files to the xbox. I'm using SmartFTP, and connecting to my xbox via a crossover cable.

Small files transfer across no problem (largest I tried was around 15mb), but I've tried a few files of around 150-200mb and they won't transfer.

Anyone had this problem before? Any ideas on a fix?

    Cheers

Nope the only problem I have had is with long file names. Size wise never gave me any problems.

yep, when I ran out of space on my xbox :)

seriously though there should be a 'view log' option in the ftp client which will tell you what the problem is.

actually you have to turn on logging, choose a location to save the logfiles and then view the log by opening it in notepad or something similar. see here under the 'General Tab' heading: http://www.lvsonline.com/smartftp/index.shtml

It just says Transfer Failed. Also, upon connect it says that PASV is not implemented.

When I try to connect using other ftp clients, it won't even list the folders on the xbox, and on trying firefox, it says "PASV is not implemented".

    Ideas?

What dashboard are you using? I'd recommend unleashx or XBMC, both of which support PASV. I think earlier versions of evox had trouble with PASV.

The best way to transfer files is to set up a shared folder on your pc and give a user account called xbox access to it(password=xbox as well, you'll have to create the account first). Then you can use XBMC to browse the smb workgroup, access the shared folder and transfer files that way, it's much quicker for transferring files as it will stream all the files in one lump rather than ftping which has to stop after each file, send a request for the next file and then transfer which takes a long time when there are lots of small files.

Alternatively, make sure your ftp client is not using PASV mode. Untick the option, it'll be in your program options somewhere.
