Downloading problems

I keep getting this problem when trying to install files:

It says: "Windows has found a problem with this file". On the bottom of the box, it says that "This file was blocked because it does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher."

This is happening with all my downloads, so i cant install anything at the moment.

    HELP!

control panel -> internet options -> advanced -> security -> allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid

DEP will only stop software from running, it won't block it being installed or downloaded.

As a short-term fix, this is fine, but this software is from MSN, Dell etc. Obviously i'd rather have certs verified before i install.

Note, this hasn't fixed the problem, even when i do this, it says the downloaded files are corrupt.

Note: Ive tried with lots of different files from different locations

whats the exact error message, have you tried with a different browser, closed any unnecessary processes, temporarily disabled ms antispyware etc etc ie troubleshoot the problem

    just an observation

seen this happen when the system clock time has been changed, if you've set your time back a year your internal certificates dont recognise themselves so you get this kind of error. also seen it affect pop3 logons and trying to check msn mail became an issue.

    Isn't related to the clock.
