Linksys problem

I have a Linksys wrt54g-uk router and a Linksys wusb54g-uk network adapter. I had them talking to each other and sharing an IBB connection between two pcs for about three months. For various reasons I had to rebuild one of the pcs and cannot get connectivity anymore. I reset the router and started from scratch. I then downloaded the latest drivers for the usb adapter and loaded them on the second pc. No dice though. I then tried loading the drivers on a laptop but it cannot connect to the router.
I went to the Linksys site and tried their diagnostics which indicate both the router and adapter are working.
Has anyone any suggestions as to my next course of action?

Have you got any security setup on the connetion? Is the wusb54g detected and running properly on the pc/laptop? I'm having a problem with my one at the moment that it spontaniously stops working after a while. It will not detect properly when you connect the usb.

I downloaded and updated the router firmware and also changed to channel 1 and it seems to have done the trick. The indication is that the link is working at 54Mbps.
