Audio problem

Got a problem with the sound on my laptop when I use it in work. When I play an audio file or a dvd the sound is distorted. The thing is though it's fine at home and in other parts of the office. I'm assuming it's something to do with the location - I'm sitting close to a cctv monitoring and recording setup. Can this equipment interfere with laptops etc? Any other possibilities?

    Annoying me as I can't watch dvd's ;)

    tisk tisk......watching dvds whilst working....lol....

ya devices like that can cause interference. Just like mobile phones when you put them close to a radio the interference is strong...how close is the cctv setup.

if it's a wireless setup -it definitely can (Define "distorted": Is it cyclical?)

I disabled wireless networking which did the trick. The cctv setup is about a metre away, it's not wireless though. The distortion is cyclical (I think) - the background 'buzz' repeats as the audio plays in bits.
