Widescreen TV shows on E4

Ok, so I got a new telly a few weeks ago, it's 32" widescreen and it has a few different viewing modes like 16:9, 4:3, Panoramic etc.
Now, the widescreen works for some shows (Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis for example) that look squished horizontally in 4:3 mode.

However, I noticed on E4 that the WS shows are cut to 4:3 ratio. I can see the "4" of the E4 logo, and some of the shows are obviously meant to have extra bits on the left and right hand side, but they don't. And when I go to 16:9 mode, it justs stretches the 4:3 image to 16:9 (i.e fatty people!)
I think I've noticed it on some other channels too, but not sure.

Is it the cable I have or is E4 just like that?
Last I checked, we were with Chorus cable, who bought CMI Cable which we paid before them.
So, where lies the problem do you think?

i'd say the problem is Chorus using a Sky Digital feed as they do with some other channels?

    Bah!
Can any Chorus users confirm this?
And do non-Chorus cable users have normal E4?
