I also have a Sky Digital Box in Spain which I use without a card and it has the UK set up, with BBC1,2,3,4 and ITV1,2,3,4 on the EPG.

This would imply that the Sky box I have in Ireland has a switch or code somewhere that establishes that it should use the Irish Channel set up. Can this be reset to be the UK EPG?

I know that I can get the UK channels by using the manual set up which sets the channels up under Other Channels, but this is a pain to change channels etc, and not really kid (or wife friendly). So changing back to the UK set up would be much better.

The card is programmed by sky for a particular region on install. AFAIK is is not poossible to change the region, you could do a search on the internet for a freeview card which has the UK channels

AFAIK it's the card, yea. If you stick in a UK viewing card you will have the UK set-up.

it is the box remembering what card was in it last

if you go to the satellite board here there is some information about changing this to the UK EPG
