I have a SigmaTel USB-Irda dongle, but I cant get it to work. I downloaded the driver from DriverGuide but no joy. Before i installed the driver, the device was flagges as 'not working'. After I installed the driver, this changed to ''working properly". I am running XP Home and using a Nokia 6230 phone. Any pointers ?

There's 2 different protocols for infrared.... FIR and SIR ( Fast and Slow )

I "think" the mobiles use SIR.... does your adapter support this ?

I have an old laptop with a built-in IrDa, but it never connected to my nokia.
So I bought a USB IrDa adapter that specifically listed Nokia phones, and even my nokia phone model.

Also.... silly question, have you enabled IrDa on your phone ?
It turns itself off after a few minutes if it doesn't connect to anything.

    regards,
    Owen
