Ok at risk of getting all sorts of posts from the sarcastic posters,I am travelling over to Dublin in next few weeks and want to know what is best place to go for romantic meal. Being the cheapskate that I am I can't afford huge money, so looking for something with good food and atmosphere.

Both of us are easy about sort of cuisine, as long as food is of decent quality, I am looking more for atmosphere

there's a greek restaurant just off dame street, and salamanca (spanish - mainly tapas) is gorgeous! both have good atmosphere and both reasonable!

I had a gorgeous meal in the Bleu Bistro Moderne a couple of months ago. It was great! It's on Dawson Street and is easy to spot! You can take a look at the menu on the site as well: http://www.onepico.com/bleu/

from southside, head over millenium bridge into a sorts little italian square, lots of nice places there, failing that anywhere northside off dame street is lovely and reasonably priced

    Go team Sarcasm!

I've always thought Da Vincenzo's on upper Leeson street was pretty romantic.

What's that one in Ballsbridge where bono eats? Rolleys or something like that. Don't know if it's romantic but it's certainly classy enough if it's good enough for bono.

It's Roly's Bistro - pure class. Set menu (3 courses + coffees + sweeties!) is €39.99 pp and the food is truly gorgeous. My companion, who is much wealthier than me and eats in much better places, was actually moaning with pleasure! Even the wine isn't outrageous.

    Book it early though.

rolys is no great shakes considering for the prices they charge. You can get better for cheaper around ballsbridge.

I'd definitely avoid it actually if I were the original poster. I was there two weeks ago and paid far too much for far too little. The portion sizes were appalling and if the original poster is on a budget, then it's not good enough. And the actual service was pretty poor too (simple stuff such as not asking if we wanted to see the dessert menu but shoving them wordlessly onto our table or not knowing where they had placed our coats). Avoid.
