Enjoyed the clonmel meeting today good crowd.
Just one thing the more i look at Ruby Walsh the better he seems to get get.
He just looks much better at the finish than say Barry Geraghty.
Ruby strolled around today on the sixth race for a seven to one winner whose previous form was u99.
unluckly i was on Barry Geraghty who fell off or shall we say " unseated rider"
At least i had the first ruby winner:)

Pity Rubys form in the UK isn't too good at the moment, he only had a few Nicholls winners in the last few months.

Far too many second places, of which my online account can vouch for.

I don't think you can blame Ruby's number of winners in the UK on his form, it's down to the Nicholls stable not firing at all at the moment, there's not a whole lot Ruby can do about that.

But he seems to have a different strategy in the UK. We all know in the vast majority of races he runs in Ireland he keeps to the back of the field up until the last 5 furlongs or so, in the UK its been the opposite in the last few months - im my opinion he's far better when he's been looking at the race from behind rather than having the race chase him.

BTW Ruby's due to ride Don't Be Bitin in Sandown on the first week of December so well worth a scribble in the notebook, he won well in Listowel on the same.

Don't Be Bitin is due to run in Cork at the weeekend too, good horse.

His strategy is different from race to race as it has to be when riding different sorts of horses. If a horse likes to be ridden prominently then he will ride it prominently, it's obvious his preference is to come from off the pace when he can, but stable orders will usually dictate how a horse is ridden.

It may appear he always comes from the back in a lot of Irish races due to the fact he nearly always rides one of the top 3 or 4 horses in the race, fields tend to be quite large and the early pace is made by no hopers which he knows there is no point challanging for the lead.
