    Anyone remember the car that had wooden/timber side panels(make or model?)

    Almost certainly the Morris Minor Traveller. Did the Mini Traveller have wood too, IIRC it did.

    Some Amercian cars of the 40s were "woodies" too. And some from the 70s had fake wood along the doors and wings. Which was lovely ;)

    Yes the mini traveller had wood too, but it was tacked/screwed/whatever against the body of the car, whereas with the Morris Minor Traveller the wood formed an integral part of the structure of the body!!
    So if the wood was rotten, you were in trouble...

    i believe there is a Woody Register in the UK...i think you will find almost all makes did woodies back in ancient history.....ie up to the sixties i guess........

    Slightly off-topic, but what was the story with those wicker finish side panel minis? Was it a factory option on certain models or always a third party add-on?

    It should be revived as a special limited edition finish for the new bmw minis.
