    Hey everyone,

Fist job I had on a construction site, day 1 I was sent looking for sky hooks, a glass hammer, wall hinges, wooden nails etc.. I was only 16 and went round like an eejit looking for all of the crap on the list!

My present job was way better - the boss sat me down, told me he expected nothing of me, that I could work at my own pace and that I was gonna make a lot of money regardless - nice!

Whats the trade of your new job? Don't be specific

    Retail at the moment.
Used to work in th 'hospitality' sector so I'm glad I can relax now!
Hopfully dealing with more sober people! :)

What do you call working within the government? Civil servant? Well whatever it is, thats my job.

On my first day I was given this huge office, with a huge luxury swivel chair and a PC with Internet access and told to basically do whatever I wanted for the day, and read up a bit about the job on the website.

I mean I wish I could say I was the new manager or something but nope, just a lowly officer....I got to stay in that office for months :D

I remember on my first day in another job though I was refuelling a cruiser and I put water in the fuel tank by mistake. That was pretty horrible....they had to spend hours draining it and they were trying to be all nice.

Boss with Vein on forehead throbbing, face going red : "No....its okay...honestly. Yes, don't worry about it. Yes, yes, Ummm. Yeah. Sure it happens everyone I suppose...."

    Vein expands.

    "Please leave now."

em.. can't really be specific cos I know my boss scans the board too, but it's a national magazine. I used to work in a couple of pubs too there tig, behind the bar, on the bar, on the door etc. Retail is better for your own social life though, make sure you get on a career path - if they provide training etc. Its always good to try and move onwards and upwards

my first day in my present job i came in and was waiting in the lobby for a manager to come give me my security badge. sat there for an hour and a half and he didn't show. so for the third time i went to security to see what the craic was and they told me they had no record of me starting today and escorted me from the premises. i had to go back to the recruitment agency and wait for them to open only to find out some tit didn't send my name to seurity. on the plus side i got the next 6 days off at full pay until the next induction was being held so it wasn't all bad. god bless IBM.
