I've pulled out my old SLR and decided to use it to improve my photographic eye until I can justify upgrading to digital. Time will tell how long I can last before either making the big purchase or getting bored, but anyway the question for you is where should I get my negatives developed.

Basically, the cheaper the better until I'm not happy with the results. By post sounds good, but a shop in Dublin would do me either. I'm not particularly looking for a full set of prints for each roll and would prefer to get the pics back on CD (or online, etc) to slot in with the process I have for those from my digital compact camera (minor editing, web album, print a bunch through foto.com every few months). My scanner is only on the poor side of OK-ish for scanning photos.

In the States, http://www.snapfish.com seems to do what I'm looking for ($2.99/roll for developing+prints, $4.99 for a CD, $1.99 P&P). Does any company do a similar service to Europe/Ireland? Thanks for any replies in advance.

Found a few mail order companies in the UK that will do CDs at reasonable prices - bonusprint, directfoto, truprintphoto, etc. So I suppose I'm just looking for recommendations or warnings.

Booths will do a CD service, not sure of the cost though, I wouldn't bother with the prints, in my expierence the lab tech who has trained for a week decides that your prints need some adjustment, so anything you may have been trying to achieve is in the bin, straight scanning to CD atleast will give you an unmolested image.

b&w and colour both cost €6.79 in Gunn's on wexford street. Haven't priced elsewhere but that seems reasonable. file size is 6.5mb per image so good to 12x 8
