Is there any information on Casey Cablevision Digital in Dungarvan on the web?

I can't find any. My parents are having it installed on Thursday and I'm going to be there for the weekend, I'm wondering what to expect!

My folks have it. I'm outside the town, so can't get it. They're rolling out the digital at the moment, upgrading from cable.

I don't know the exact channel line-up, but they have pretty much as much as a Sky package, with channel4,5 etc. At home they're paying extra to get sky sports, and the bb. I usually pay a visit when I want to surf/download in comfort.

Well I've seen it and was quite impressed.

100 TV channels (almost!) plus radio channels.

There was only one "+1" channel, which was Travel Channel +1 why did they pick that one!

They have most of the UKTV channels the only ones I noticed missing were the +1s and UKTV Drama

It was quite fast to change channels probably a little faster than sky.

There is an EPG but it only has now and next data.
It was missing for a couple of the channels.

There are also about 14 Radio Channels.
These have their own separate EPG.
You toggle between the Radio and TV using the 'red button' so it looks like no red button interactive stuff is planned.

I wonder where they source this EPG info from, looking at what they had for R na G it may be Sky. Also the EPG only had "now" not "Now and Next" like the TV

Then radio channels are the 4 RTEs plus the main BBCs
No Local or regional Irish radio or even Today FM.

The thing I like best in the transparent EPG so you can continue to watch your programme while you filck through it. I wish Sky had this!

The box just says "CableVision" on the front, so that badge my be just for the local company.

The user manual shows German TV channels on the example screen shots.

I took some screen shots myself, you can see them here:

is there widescreen on any of the channels?

from you pictures it looks ok, nice to see they are including both Northern Ireland and London versions of BBC1/2. they never had UTV (thankfully :)) always had HTV Wales

Any channels that are widescreen on Sky seem to be Widescreen, including RTE1 and 2.

My Parents don't have a widescreen TV, but the installer had left it set on 'squashyvision' setting,
so people looked slimer and taller than usual.
They did the same thing at my sisters house.

I changed it to centre cut out. Letterbox is available, There is no 14:9 option.

Yup, I'm based in Dungarvan using Cablesurf BB - been here for several years now, Dungarvan was always miles ahead of other towns in the locality for BB.

This company has an excellent reputation with the least number of complaints from customers of any cable service in the country....according to Comreg and responsible Government department.
But how much do they charge? Probably somewhat similar to the cable service (eighteen channels) provided privately in an area of North Dublin city for the grand total of 50 euros per year. And yes ,copyright is paid to channel providers where necessary and legal charges and included in the total above.

Cablevision is €35/month for the basic channels. 36 of them i have on analogue (i think). need to get the digibox installed now (no extra charge afaik) and broadband is being installed next week :)
