Far cry..any good?

Definitely reccommend it. Really fun to skulk around the first half of the game & then spend the 2nd half going mad. The graphics really show what the xbox is capable of too.

Best shoot em up ive played since Half Life 2. Highly reccomended. Great feral powers and excellent live support too.

I couldn't disagree with you all more, been playing the single player campaign and find this title sorely over-rated, sure the graphics look kinda nice but so far all I have seen are corridors of trees and mine shafts, the vehicle control is rubbish, aside from a attack boat which is enjoyable, in an apocalypse now way, but otherwise its all quite conventional and dare I say boring, go buy something else insted like Pitch Black or Metal Arms, save yourself a few bob too.
Maybe online its great, Halflife 2 is out in a couple of days and will wipe the floor with it as a conversion of the PC classic, not a cut down waste of time.
Its seriously over-rated, destined to be forgotten in a short space of time.

I agree with ciderman, I haven't played the xbox version but own the PC version, which I bought on the day of its release about two years ago. Once you get past the pretty graphics and occasionally impressive A.I, it's a very formulaic FPS, especially when you get further into the game and start to face generic rent-a-beasts (I'm aware the Xbox version has been changed in a lot of ways - the inclusion of the feral powers and an actual storyline). Half Life 2 is the definitive FPS in my opinion, there is nothing out there that comes close to touching it for gameplay, atmosphere, game mechanics; all amazing. By all means, get Far Cry for the Xbox, it'll pass a weekend or two, but make sure you get HL2, that's where the magic is :v:

Seriously if you havent played it why comment? I havent played the pc version but I believe its just not the same game. Im not gonna go commenting on the pc version if a thread comes up on it.

I'm sure the game retains the main features of the PC game, CryTek freely admit that the Xbox version is a tweaked version of the PC game, its game mechanics aren't a million miles apart, I've seen my brother play it on his Xbox, IT'S NOT THAT DIFFERENT.

I got it about a week ago, not that impressed with the single player mode.

I've yet to play it on live but so far, Halo 2 just about beats it.

Sorry if you took offence at my post, but I dont think it was uncivil.

I heard it was rebuilt from the ground up as opposed to a port over. It gets on my tits though when people slate a game & then at the end mention that they havent played it, goes on a fair bit here.

If your brother has it then give it a shot for 1/2 hour & then come back with your thoughts.

It's unfair to compare it with Half Life 2. Half life 2 is the defining FPS of our generation. Far Cry doesnt beat it, but it's great fun on it's own terms. To comapre every FPS to Half Life is just unfair, and youll miss out on a lot of great games.

I tought it was terrible no challenge at all just run at the enemy with the trigger pulled and before you know it you are half way through. The driving is annoying also. No way is it better than HALO 2 as some have said

Sure ya can pretty much finish it by just running around guns blazing, but I found myself repeatedly playing parts just for the satisfaction of killing people in the wiliest way possible and taking the least amount of damage. Multiplayer is also rather classy.

tis' a good game, good clean fun. cant complain, multiplayer is good craic too, makes a change from being nub comboed on halo2 every night.

Well, each to their own, just didn't find it measured up to all the hype, but then, the single player mode in Halo2 was a pile of crap too, yet people seem to worship the very ground it sits on, the first on was much better scripted, far better paced. And as yet, as far as single player goes nothing has grabbed me the way Half Life all those years ago did, although Half Life 2 is doing a good job at the mo!
