if you're PC can run it then don't bother. it's the best fps on the xbox (sadly not getting the hype halo did) imo, but obviously it looses a lot of textures and "feel"

in the middle of gettin it but im not too sure its real. version im lookin at is only 1.5Gb. that cant be right.

went to half the xtra visions in dublin lookin for it as well coz its out on play.com but the staff have no idea when its out.

    1.5gb is right.
To be honest I'm surprised it turned out so well on the xbox - it looks very good. Plays quite well too. I already finished it on the PC, but couldn't resist trying it out on the xbox.

Far cry wasnt much bigger than that if I remember right so I wouldnt be surprised.

Never bothered with it on pc due to all the crap with steam. Looking forward to finally getting a look at what all the hype was about. As for it being the best FPS on the xbox, have you played the xbox far cry?

Well it's my favourite FPS of all time, so if you haven't played it on your PC, grab it for your Xbox as it's a great cinematic experience.

its good alright, but compare it to game graphically like, halo2/riddick/far cry/splinter cell, its not up to scratch, they really should av delayed it for 360, cause COD2 luks amzing on that, compaired to pc, so half life2 ould have been similar.

Looks no different from when it's running on my PC.

yeah but you save money on not paying for online play, and fps' are nicer to play with keyboard/mouse :p

€60 sub to xbox live isnt exactally steep, true about the keyboard and mouse, still not worth spending tons of € every year or two, upgrading, or getting new computers etc...

Played it for a couple of hours last night, stunning stuff.
Given the hardware its running on its a revelation, actually makes one wonder a bit about the next gen when you have titles like HalfLife 2 and Burnout Revenge looking so amazing on a 4 year old xbox.
No way a 4 year old PC could pull that off!
I like to see FPS titles that don't forget those of us not online, providing a great story line that meets all the expectations of this old Half Life fan, having multiple copies of that game as it is, PS2, PC and DC.
If you don't have €1000 to spare its nice to be included in the current heights of gaming on a console that can be bought for only €150, isn't it?

The only possible faults are the repeated loading screens and the lack of any bonus campaigns, like the Barney missions in the DC one and the two player scenario on the PS2. But thats about it.

Ok, maybe a slight drop in frame rate when you turn around quickly out of doors, but thats really all.

Bah, the version I got was more corrupt than an Irish politician. Ill try again over the weekend.

Better AI than farcry and the situations you have to escape from are much more absorbing. This is a very cool game.

skywalker, do you know about hash checking? it's a handy feature of most BT clients.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,707 ✭✭✭skywalker

I did get a msg saying the hash check had failed, but Ive had that numerous times before & the download has always been fine, still, might make me pay more heed next time.

Played for another 2 hours last night on the Xbox one, just cleared the bloody water boat sections, what a pain in the arse, hateful helicopter!
Well, onto the rest of the game, hoping to meet some real aliens sometime soon.

After playing 'Far Cry' on the Xbox I was shocked what people thought a port of a PC game was. Far Cry is NOTHING like the PC version and isn’t a good game even if yea remove the links in your own mind that it was a PC game.
Now Half-Life 2 on the Xbox has shown that game companies that port PC games to console can still keep the game intact if they put enough effort into it. There might be a lot of loading that I cant remember in the PC version but it’s a cracking game.
A little rant and my 2cents

Bugger, the zombie thingys with the head grabbers installed have turned up with their mutant cousins, why oh why do video games have to make me jump out of my skin every couple of moments? Or is this the idea? Are Valve trying to put the lifetime warranty on my incontinence pants to the ultimate test? Only time will tell!

Bought HL2 today for Xbox, and after a few hours of play it has already froze on me a few times. Think about 15 mins into it I was jumping around the streets and got stuck between some swings and couldn't get out and had to reboot. The farme rate is erratic and the textures and effects are nowhere near as detailed as other FPSs like Halo 2 and Far Cry.
I'm just curious whether anyone else is as p*d off as me at the port; surely with a bit more time and effort they could have squeezed more from the Xbox. No Live either is a bit of a joke. I'll be calling back into Game during the week asking for my €55 back...

 best single player game ever to grace the xbox, even with all of its faults ;)
