funny thing is u are probably better off dealing with someone like dunnes, tesco etc then actually computer shops like sound store. something goes wrong and they will replace/refund instantly while sound store will tell u to fu.ck off :D

the 128mb ati card (could be an x300 which is tat for games)and low ram are the only faults i could see with that but both can be upgraded (may take a bit from the value of it tho)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,200 ✭✭✭muppetkiller

ya it's grand for upgrades it has a PCI - Express slot :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,111 ✭✭✭tba

I wonder how many extra ram slots it has?

    Philips screens any good?

lol, too right. Shared memory graphics cards rape your RAM.

Shared graphics means on board gfx. Dire for games. Might not have PCI-E or AGP slot =no upgrade.
X300 means dire for games. but at least it must have a slot you can upgrade.

That'll instantly need replacing in any case. Whats worse then having 256mb shared gfx is the fact that its UP to 256mb dependant on your ram which here is only 512.

The average family would hardly notice but it wouldn't make a good gaming pc at all. What's interesting though is that I have both spare RAM and a spare x800se card lying around so for that price I could make it decent enough I suppose. I've been harping on about a second pc for frickin ages but just never get around to it...would be a good way to start. Great price when you think that theres a 19" in there too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,484 ✭✭✭✭Stephen

That's assuming it actually has a PCI-E or AGP slot for you to put the graphics card into. As its a cheapo PC, what's the bets it only has 2 slots for RAM so you 'd probably have to get rid of some of the memory that ships with it to install your own.

Shifty, sounds like a great deal, just don't expect to play any new games, other than at their absolute lowest settings, and maybe not even then.
