Any raise from me here pre-flop and I feel I am pot committed to call any subsequent re-raise and I enough chips not to risk busting with a preflop gamble. Obviously I am not wanting to see an Ace on the flop. When it appears and he bets I min-raise for two reasons, 1: it shows strength usually and 2: if he has me beat he will probably re-raise and I can let go. Originally I put him on AK or a big pair. He checked the turn well and I thought it was Christmas when I hit the Jack....

Get away from it at what point? You can hardly fold the river. The reason the min raise is bad is because players will call with any pair or any draw (usually rightly). If you do raise the flop then you need to raise more. To be honest I think this hand was misplayed on every street.

Preflop - I think at this stage you should be prepared to go broke against AA/kk/QQ and flat calling doesnt make it any easier to get away from them anyway. Id be happier to call a normal raise but I think you are letting him draw out on you cheaply by calling.

Flop - I think of all your options you chose the worst. KK might well look up a min raise. Just raise so much that he cant call with out an ace. Obviously if he calls you are done with the hand. Id probably just fold here though. Calling and evaluation on the flop would be ok as well.

Turn - I think betting here is much better than checking. Get him to fold KK QQ. If he calls you are done with the hand

River - Why is he betting there? I dont think ive ever seen AQ AK played like that, so he either has AAA a 4 or is bluffing so I dont really see the value in raising.

TBH looking back I did not play this hand particularly well. Initially I was going to raise more on the flop but then decided against it. It was his minimum raise preflop that changed my mind. I should have gone with my gut as I was right that he did not have an Ace, This was not a particulary scary flop for AK/AA and there was no need for him to bet it, although I know that a lot of people on here believe in leading out with big hands.

My reasoning was that if he thought min raising UTG was a sign of a monster my min raise of his flop bet woulde scare him. Wrong!

If the Jack doesn't come then I am done with the hand but once it comes and he bets I was genuinely shocked to see his hand. Ah well, you live and learn.

As regards pushing instead of flat calling, I would say that I have seen Ax played far worse that getting all my chips in there is +EV in the long run.

I see where you are coming from with the min raise. The problem is it actually makes T Banks play correct as you are pricing him into his draw.

Also I dont see the value in pushing. With blinds at 600 you could have left yourself with 5BB if you were behind. If you were ahead the only possible hand i can see calling you (that you can beat) is AA.
