Any chance of it in the future? It cant be too hard, would they not be pretty closely related right now?

Unfortunately it isvery hard. The PSP isn't closely related to the PS1. PS1 emulation on the PS2 was easy due to the PS1 chipset being integrated into the PS2 hardware. The PS1 hardware isn't on the PSP. Therefore the emulator will have to be written from scratch. If you consider how long it took for a PS1 emulator to appear for the PC you will get a picture of how long it will take. Some one will be working on it but don't expect a working one that plays games at a decent framerate for the next 3 years. The PS1 is a far more complicated machine to emulated that the other machines that are currently emulated.

As retrogamer said it's a long way off at the minute. I have my doubts as to whether it will ever happen. The psp still has trouble emulating some SNES games, let alone ps1.

It struggles with Mario Kart, Starwing, Pilotwings and the like
