    Hey,

Im looking to buy a 500piece clay(composite?) poker chip set, typical spec with good case, dice, 2pk playing cards, dealer button, chips must be good weight and have a suited, not dice design.

    Seen a few on specialdays.com

    Looking for recommendations please.

    Thanks in advance.

Without being overly blatant on self promotion, we do carry the best chips (have been selling poker for 6 years) We have three new chip designs in the stores - Liffey valley & Tallaght.

The website is currently undergoing a big revamp (a load of non-poker stuff being added along with the new poker stuff) and it is meant to be ready next weekend.

p.s. I suppose this means another prize for the next Boards comp!!!!

Dunnes in Blanchardstown have a good deal going with poker stuff, very cheap too and the chips and proper chips, not plastic....

You'll egt chisp cheaper on ebay then you willf rom special days. I got the same 500 piece dice set that special days lists at €70 for €43 off ebay inc delivery.

Mark McInerney, an irish ebayer from Galway sells them for €60 inc delivery with a free card shuffler

McCaul has been good to boards with sponsorships, it's nice to support your own as well, if you can.

If you are in Dublin then the Fitz are selling chipsets too at reception. A set with 500 chips, 2 packs of cards and dice cost €40. I bought a set with 300 chips for €30 and chips are a good weight (no light rubbish).

Dunnes, Smyths, Argos etc etc all sell the cardinal range of poker stuff. Fine range of basic chips & accessories - but we do beat them all on comparable product.

Table tops are chipboard / mdf v ours all solid wood, chips are all resin/plastic composite. Whilst we still sell some of these (€59 per set of 500) my personal preference is for the real clay chips (9g vegas) or the clay chips with metal inserts 11.5g, 12.5g & 13.5g. - (A standard clay chip is 9g, the manufacturers add metal inserts to create heavier chips)

In Liffey Valley you can check out all stores - Dunnes, Smyths & Argos along with ourselves - at just €10 more than Smyths/Dunnes resin composite chips you can have the superior feel of clay. (and choose your own chip colour make up set with decent knowledgeable staff!) - Or you could buy our composite for €10 less than smyths/dunnes!!

I won't harp on, but we've been doing poker for 6 years and have consistently brought our prices down when factory prices came down & when EU duty (17.9%) was abolished (Jan 1st 2005) to ensure our customers have always had similar value to any store in USA & elsewhere. I don't think we've had a disappointed customer yet.

What happened to the 'I don't want to be overblatant on the self-promotion thing'?

Well, in the face of the big boys it s nce to be able to beat them on quality & value. - So I might as well make sure I'm heard.

I think both myself & fullhousepoker have served the irish poker player well over the past couple of years and we both know what we're talking about - somehow I doubt if the pimply 17 year old in smyths / dunnes would give a damn.

    lol

Are you still doing a discount if the punter says "I'm from boards"?

    @ McCaul.

Ot but I'm after a bit of advice. I have the large oval table (the one thats now selling for €199)Was using it in a mates house a couple of weeks back and left it there as I wasnt driving, He dropped it back to me the other day but managed to destroy it trying to shove it into his golf without covering it. One side is fairly badly scuffed but the other is destroyed with two fairly big tears (one about 4 inches long, the other more of a hole. As you can imagine. Im well pissed, I only used it twice. Anyhoo, onto the question, do you know of anywhere i could get a repair job done? Cheers in advance.

There was a guy on ebay.ie selling loads of chips a while back.
Sets that were better and cheaper than any I had seen in the shops,
he threw in a card shuffler too.

The simplest & cheapest option would be to get black carpet tape (known also as duck tape) and put this over the tear. The othe roption would be to go to a upholstery repair centre - Chruchtown Upholstery is one place - and they should be able to sort out the problem. - If any of the cup holders are broken, we will have spares available at the end of November.
