So once again Godolphin have strengthened their team with some notable additions:

Electrocutionist, The Geezer, Palace Episode, Winged Cupid, Opera Cape and Stepping Up, Iffraaj, Goodricke, Leo and Deveron.

I felt that this season they seemed to have a lot more in the quantity area than the quality but these are some very useful additions indeed. Will be interesting to see what they can get out of them.

Indeed, some strong horses there. Two of my favourites infact, The Geezer and Iffraaj.

I must confess that I'm somewhat surprised by these purchases.

If Godolphin hope to achieve quality over quantity for next year, then these buys won't do it for them. With the exception of PALACE EPISODE, every 2-y-o they have bought is a Group 3 horse. And those horses will have to step up a notch to make Group 1 standard next year ........... I don't see it happening.
Certainly, the lot listed above are IMHO a downgrade on the type of quality like Shamardal, Grandera, etc, bought by Godolphin in previous years.

I dunno, I think it's a bit of a scatter-gun and "catch-em-all" approach to horse buying. Better for Godolphin to eat humble pie and buy a couple of decent Coolmore yearlings.:D

I thought the same when they purchased Refuse to Bend from Dermot Weld but they got the Coral Eclipse and the Queen Anne out of him so you'd never know what they could achieve with this crop.

What Godolphin need to do, Is take a leaf out of Mr O'Briens book.

They don't tend to use the Big Stallions, Which means they ain't gonna get the quality.

Saddler's Wells, Montjeu, Giants Causeway, Strom Cat etc...

    O'Brien is cleaning up.....

They refuse to use those. Sure.. Rahy might come across a few good ones but nothing like the consistancy of the likes of Saddlers.
