Hi can anyone help me recommend a good brand or model laptop. Mainly going to be used for CAD systems and other graphic orientated applications such as Photoshop, 3D studio MAX etc.

Would be willing to spend up to 1400 yoyo's!!!

    Thanks!:D

    Check the laptop forum.

Is that 1400 inc vat or ex vat?

What size screen do you want?
You'll need at least 1GB ram.
You'll also need a fairly decent graphics card.
As for everything else - it all depends on if battery life/weight etc is important to you :)

17 inch screen would be ideal but I guess I could get away with 15 inch but nothing lower than that!

    General advice:

    Toshiba.

Buy something bigger and bulkier - Small ones are trendy so they're dearer, and much easier to break. The small ones also have the removable or external CD drive / floppy drive which drive me absolutely nuts.

Have a look around the shops, you'll want a really nice clear screen for your type of app. Better to see it than order from a catalogue.

I saw some good prices in Harvey Norman last week.
