On a recent trip to the Isle of Man I was surprised/delighted to see this Opel Kadett C parked on the roadside.

Kadett C's were built from 1976-1979.
(This is a later model due to it's square headlights).

    Anybody own one ?
    .....or restoring one ?

I always loved those Opel Kadett's, I had a coupe a couple of years ago and now I'm sorry I sold it. The Opel Ascona from the same age was also a great car.

Yes, manta mad ......I'm an Opel fan :)

The only garage in the small Wicklow town I grew up in was an Opel dealership, so I suppose that fostered my affection for Opel cars of the period (late 70's/80's).

I remember seeing only a few Kadett Coupes around my home town .....the last being a 79 (light blue) model in c.1989.
It was in mint condition when the garage had it (I saw the owner's son driving it around the town many-a-time), but within a year of it being sold to a local resident, it was reduced to a scruffy, bashed up car :(

My father once owned a 1972 Kadett B Estate (though I never liked the B models), my brother owned a 1976 Kadett C saloon (his first car!), my sister owned an '84 Corsa, my other sister now has a '99 Corsa (plus her husbands '02 Astra) - I also had a couple of C's, and I now drive an Astra ..........so as you can see, Opels have been in the family for years !

My brother just bought a 78 2.0 GT/E Coupe yesterday, are there any more Rallyes/GTEs in the country?

    Tell us more Blue850 !

Did he import it (LHD?) ?
    Is it restored?
    Any pics ?

Its a original car bar a new set of front wings at some stage. It was imported from Germany to the UK about 14 years ago and converted to RHD. It was based on the Isle of Man until 4 years ago, when it came to Ireland. It was rarely driven over here. It was advertised in the Buy and Sell about a month ago and my brother went and bought it. Its a real headturner, being bright yellow, and we'll be heading down to Killarney for the Historic Rally on 3/4 Dec to do a bit of spectating.:D
