This ones for the guys. How do you shave your face? Do you always shave in the same order?

I shave differently every time. Sometimes I start on the side, other times the middle. Sometimes right to left, other times left to right. I was talking to my friend. He has a fixed routine. He always starts on one side of his face and moves towards the other side.
Am I the exception, or do lots of guys just shave randomly?

Pretty much always the same. Neck first, then along the edges of my jaw, then my cheeks, then my chin, and finally the 'tache. Just habit at this point I guess.

Actually, now that I think of it, it probably started back in my younger days when I'd leave a goatee every so often so I'd look cool.

The irony of the thread title and your username! I thought they were connected!

Me, I shave right to left every time

Always the same. Start on left cheek, then left side of my neck and then same on the right and then middle.

Start around mouth and chin then do both of my jaws, then my neck. Always do it this way, don't know why

Arent you supposed to leave the tache & locks till last as those hairs are the most coarse so the foam has more time to absorb into them. Cant remember where I read that.

Left leg, right leg, oxters, nads, butt crack but sometimes I do them in reverse order.

Sides first, Neck, Above lip, then chin.

Vertical stripes one week and horizontal the next works for me.
After a fortnight I've a 3-D quilted pattern on my face

My face and neck is stubbly, right down to my t-shirt line. I start from t-shirt line up to a line roughly above my adams apple, then to the right jaw up to the locks, then left jaw to the locks. It sometimes vary, but i always end up with a goatee formation last.

Start on the right side of my face from the locks, cheek down to neck and chin and up the other side, laugh at the little tache left, then shave that off too.

    then my legs and armpits.

i havent shaved in like four days so now i have a beard, which i have to admit i'm quite tempted to grow longer and keep, luckily i have no girlfriend this time round who gave out to me about it the last time i tried it..

generally it's right cheek left cheek neck chin tache

Left Burns, Right Burns, Left Cheek, Right Cheek.
Neck Left to Right, Tache, Chin.

    Exact same, every single time.

I haven't shaved in a week, but I don't want to keep the beard, but I'm dreading trying to shave now. Gonna have to get the head shears at it first me thinks.

The worst thing is when you haven't been arsed shaving in about a week then start at it at ten minutes before work and end up leaving your face like youve gone at it with a cheese grater.

I always start with right to left, then the neck. Hate shaving the chin. Have a tendancy to cut it. So i leave that bit there and use the electric razor..

    Does anybody have a goatee?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

locks and one side of face, locks and the other side of face, chin and neck, tache

Pretty much in that order normally, although I don't have a routine :p

Depends on which lane I'm in on the M50 - can't beat a phillishave

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,252 ✭✭✭Funkstard

I go for the moustache first, then the rest of my face, leaving my jawline & neck last because I have to be superduper wary of slicing myself open and not decapitating any spots, or even more not aggrevating the skin to cause more acne.

(I don't have bad acne, but shaving has the potential to give it to me so I stay wary)

However, the only place I have real proper stubble is around my chin. My neck is coming in thick and fast, my sideburns a bit slower, and my upper lip is a bit of a joke really

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,264 ✭✭✭JBoyle4eva

Go for the goatee area, then the cheeks, side nurms and them my neck!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 437 ✭✭JuliusFranco

always neck, then left side of my face, then right, (i've had side burns for the last 10 years)..finally tash
i shave upwards on my neck, does anybody shave downwards?

but anyway, i've started to grow a beard. haven't shaved now for nigh on 3 weeks. it's not very bushy, or long but it is quite apparent. is anyone else growing a beard? when can i expect the itchyness to stop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    I use an electric razor.

Right to left. It's terrible using an electric razor after you've let it grow for about a week, especially if its not been recharged and it stops half-way through. Ouch.:v:

left side usually, then right side, then neck, then chin, then tasher. Usually do the same most times

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Dave

Generally the right side of my face first, moving onto my left, then my neck, then my sideburns. On another note, always shave in the shower people, you'll never look back! Tidy the bits up in the mirror when you come out. I can't shave anywhere else really, it leaves your face alot less red too.

first I hit the steamroom in the gym afterwards for about 10 mins..this way the facial is soft and can easily be shaved..slap on the foam..left to right of the face, then the neck upwards...more foam and from neck upto the face left and right and then finally more foam, across the face from left to right and down the neck...reason i go left to right?? I'm lefthanded...after the steamroom the blade ust cuts through like a hot knife through butter

I like having a beard personally, so I shave the neck part underneath where the jawbone is. Also trim the fluff so it doesn't look too bad.

WTF? I don't think I could ever shave without being able to see myself.
BTW, finally shaved the beard I had goin. Took 3 attempts. First with the head shears, then the electric shaver and finally the mach 10 supercharged turbo.

The last time I shaved in the shower ~4 years ago I slipped a little and gave myself a 1cm long cut(blade went side-side!) on my top lip while shaving the tache area.

I WILL NEVER SHAVE IN THE SHOWER AGAIN!

Right to left. Everytime. Then uper lip. then lower lip. Followed by this little spot one inch below my mouth and quarter inch to the left that i always miss first time around..........

Wet shaved for years in the same ritualistic fashion, got bored with spending so long doing the daily chore (was fun for a while to be shaving for real).

Now its a Remington mains/rechargeable battery operated thingy, easier on the skin, faster and no mess in the sink afterwards.
