My dreadful IOL/ESAT contract for broadband service will be over next month(thank god), so now I am looking else where.
Can anybody suggest a good value broadband provider, must be 24-7 always on and includes the modem? Thanks

Post a location if you want options other than DSL over eircom copper.
(is it true that apart from SMART all DSL goes via eircom ports in the exchanges ?)

    eg:
NTL cable is good if you can get it.
    IBB ,[don't mention the war]

Well, in Ballina, you're options are only Eircom, or one of it's resellers, and then satellite. Not much of a choice really. Unless Smart have unbundled your exchange then BT are the best value for money.

What was so dreadfull about BT for you? The fact that thew company sucks or that there was actual problems with the service?

Couldn't agree more with the comments about the company but I have to say that their broadband service is reasonably good and their pricing is the best about if you take the BB/phone/line rental package.

I'm in a similar position. My contract with Eircom just ran out and I was wondering if there is a better deal out there for me. I'm based in South Dublin. Thanks for any help

I'm happy with IBB when it's working, which seems to be nearing 90% of the time these days. Reasonable price too for the service provided (2Mbit upload seals it for me)

    Hi,
I've had Smart Broadband for about 5 months and it's very good. Never
any trouble and the phone service is pretty cheap too. I use skype
quite a bit and the quality is perfect I also use iChat with
my Mac and I find the QOS very good for full screen video conferencing.

I know you cannot get it through all switches but if you can I recommend it.

    Aaron.
