I'm off to spain for 3 days in January. I wanted to go to barcelona, and booked flights with ryanair to Reus airport. Now I found out that its 1.5 hrs from barcelona city. I was just wondering whats peoples opinions were? Should I bus it to barcelona, or stay at a closer city, maybe Tarragona?

    thank,
    Martin

Go to Barcelona - it's great.

The 1 1/2 hours transfer time from Reus is probably equivalent to the time from the main airport in Barcelona. I remember having to walk for ages to get my bags and then I was waiting for a good 30 minutes for the train.

Its 30 minutes on the bus from Barcelona Airport to the city centre so you only have an additional hour, its not that big a deal. Definately go to Barcelona, its a great city.

ditto, Barcelona is great - if the alternative was Valencia or somewhere like that then you might have something to think about but definitely Barca...

    Was in barcelona last weekend:)

Stayed off la Rambalas........ grand but just be careful of the dodgy characters around there...........

www.hotelsilver.com - we didn't stay here but my friend did & recommends it.

Place Real is the square off la rambalas, there is a late drinking den called pipi's and it look like apartments but it is not, I'd defo recommend there.

Be sure to plan your days cos we went on the bus tours but they do take longer than you'd expect.

Watch your wallet / handbag / bum bag in the "Barri Gotic" (old quarter). - basically the area to the right of Las Ramblas when you're looking up it (with your back to the sea). Lots of pickpockets there, women "selling" flowers while their partner grabs your wallet while you're fishing out your cash.

It's a lovely town, but just keep your wits about you.

I booked flights with Aer Lingus to Barcelona last week for March and they were only €10 dearer than Ryanair.

Also looking for place to stay. If you find anywhere nice, appreciate if you could let me know.

    Thanks
