No, it's not one of those jumpy things, not some trick, just pure filmmaking beauty without the use of computers.

It's the ad for the new Sony Bravia range. 250,000 coloured balls were released down the streets of San Francisco, and it's set against an equally beautiful acoustic song.

'Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats' is the song; this is the link:

I saw the ad on TV and loved it. Maybe because I lived in SF and just love to see it on TV.

It left me questioning whether it was real or computer generated.

I spent many a sleepless night pondering on this so thanks for putting it to bed for me...

    ;)

I just saw that ad last night. I was wondering too if it was real. Would have been cool to be there seeing thousands of bouncing balls hopping down the street.

This is a clip from a resident of the street, during the filming of this commercial.

Jose Gonzalez plays support to King Creosote in Crawdaddy on Sundaynight I think it is.

And he plays Whelans in December.

The song is great but I was not exactly impressed with the ad itself tbh. Balls bouncing down a hill from many angles, hmmm.... whatever.

Anyway here's a direct link to the 2m30s hi-def version of 'mov' file if anyone wants it.

54megs so I wouldn't bother If I were you unless bandwidths not an issue.

Saw this for the first time a few days ago and didn't think it was real. Really nicely done and the music fits perfectly.

Quicktime is not working properly on my PC  I don't want to have to do a new install so I will just have to take your word on how good the ad is.

Whoa! That ad was real? I, like many, thought it was all done using computers. I love it - The colours and the song in it are wonderful. The idea is really original too (well, to my knowledge it is).

What an amazing ad. The music is quite good also. Really hits you how cool it is when you see all the little balls bouncing down for real in the making of.

Sony showed this to us at our end of year bash with them projected on a big screen before they aired it and It just blew me away. It's so perfect. Not in your face product but just a nice feel and then a nice simple message at the end which is delivered excellently. Well played!

    180 Second version 4tw!

Is it odd that I want to be at the end of the street and become submerged in a beautiful orgy of bright, bouncy goodness?

Yeah it is a bit odd. The guys who were filming it were using riot-police style perspex shields so presumably getting hit in the noggin by a wave of rubber balls traveling at that speed wouldn't be all the fun it's cracked up to be.
