    Deflated

    Even though I don’t sleep, I dream.
    The empty residue of my soul escapes
    Wishing for a chance to breathe,
    Clinging to the hope of rescue.
    The demons eating my elated words,
    Grasping and holding my tired feat,
    Wishing for a chance to take over,
    Leaving a dour face behind.
    More and more they eat life’s courage.
