    Ati Radeon 9550
    Nvidia FX5500

    Thanks :)

I think "better" is far to subjective a term where graphics cards are concerned. Even with the latest and greatest, one is usually better than the other at something. It depends on what you want it for.

Considering these are both budget graphics cards for about €70-80 I'd go with the cheapest of the two, if there's even a difference.

I'd say the Nvidia is better, since I usually buy Nvidia.

Im not buying these cards new, i have them both here and i need to put 1 into my dads pc. He plays Flight Simulator and im going to be playing counter strike on it to. So far the 5500 has handled it ok but few lads on another forum reckon the 9550 is indeed better.
I might just run CSS stress test and see which comes up tops :).

With both of them to hand then trial and error is probably your best bet. I would have thought a FX5500 would play counterstrike fine.

I'd say a 9550 would be better - the 5x00 series of cards was fairly pants

Well did a few tests the the 9550 was significantly better, getting 10-20 more fps in CSS with higher detail :).

The 9550 may be better with CSS alright.. I think it can be modded into a 9700 no?

    that was the 9500pro.

The 9550 was a cut down 9600. It will be better than the fx5500 at everything besides maybe quake 3.

It will be much better at any dx9 games like CS:S
