Dropped into Quayside SC in Newry today and low and behold, there's a Starbucks :D between Sainsburys and Next. It's a tad bit small but hey, since the new Dundalk western by-pass is open, Newry is only 35 mins from Drogheda :) . Sure, if you're dropping up to Sainbury's for the beer for Christmas, you can also enjoy a coffee before you go home:D.

If your heading north for beer there's an off-licence called the "Drink-Link" in Newry, it's cheaper than Sainsbury's, 1 slab of Stella = 30yoyo's etc..

Drive under the old bridge heading into Newry and it's 300 meters on the left hand side, can't miss it. The owner is a gent.

Keep your hair on Sarge! Are you sure you're from Dundalk. You're post reminds me of an angry young wasp
Sparks Pighead assures you we're usually much friendlier in the North East than Sarge is demonstrating.
Sarge,How do you know Sparks wasn't talking about 24 cans of stella for 30 euro, thus making it a good deal.I think you owe the chap an apology on behalf of Dundalk.Talk to ya later.

    Stella @ Sainbury's for £10.99 for 20 bottles. They're giving 0.68 p for € 1 therefore works about € 16.16 for 20.:)

Hail to the "Wife Beater" !!!!! :D

    Coors Light for £11.99 for 20, about € 17.63.

Still worth your while to travel up north.:p

I was refering to 24 cans = 30 yo'yo's, I've never heard of 24 bottles been referred to as a slab.

Don't worry Sparks400, while some in Dundalk may be a bit ratty some of the time, I can guarantee you we are all big enough to admit when we're wrong.
Pighead assures you Sarge will be back with a good old North East apology any time now.Once again on behalf of d'town may I apologise for this misunderstanding.

Right my point lads was , that the drink is a lot cheaper down the north no doubt about it , but the example of giving a "slap of stella for 30yoyo's" is a bad one , seen as i can buy them in dundalk for just as cheap.

ive just got off the phone from "ring a drink" now and its 24 bottles of stella for €20 including delivery which i think is good value around the town.

Now buying in bulk you certainly can save some amount of money up in Newry , Sure have the publicians in the town are buying there drink down there. There is always specials happening and the local market cant compete with that.

Newry gets my thumbs up but stella in the town , is just as good of value ;)

    WORST APOLOGY EVER!
You snapped at Sparks for no reason and you got your facts wrong.Pighead reckons the least you could have done was to apologise for the snappiness.C'mon Sarge be a man and say you're sorry and we can put this whole sorry mess to bed.Good lad.

Sparks i'm sorry buddy,I grew up in an era when Dundalk was full of men of honour who weren't scared to admit when they were wrong. It seems standards have slipped and i truly hope your opinion of Dundalk hasn't been affected by todays proceedings.
Your initial point stating that 24 cans of stella could be purchased for 30 euro was a good tip and I for one was grateful for it.Pighead shall buy the said slab in the near future as it undoubtedly offers good value and I shall raise a can to you my friend.

Cheer's Pighead, I'm actually a Dundalk man too.

    Anyway,

    Drink-Link Newry, 24 can's Stella = 30 euro (12 litres of beer)
Dundalk 24 bottles of Stella = 20 euro (7.9 litres of beer)

    Implies
    Drink-link = 2.5 euro per litre
Dundalk = 2.5 euro per litre

I'm amazed! Credit, where credit is due, I'm a nice guy

And by the way, never tried Starbucks, but I will now!

No problem buddy,Pighead just wants to see justice done and to make boards a nicer place.
By the above figures it works out at:
24 litres for 60 euro in Newry
23.7 litres for 60 euro in Dundalk.
MMMM extra .3 litres, nice,Respect to the drink link.
