Hi. I need someone's help in catpuring a particular 10min piece of TV from RTE this weekend in a pc playable movie format.

I dont have any of the hardware or software to do this, so I figured it would be easiest if I asked someone here, knowing what an obliging bunch you are :)

I need someone reliable that won't let me down - this piece of TV won't be repeated and it's important to me that I capture it.

If you can help, please PM me and I'll give you the details.

    Many thanks in advance.

Why not record the stuff on a cassette recorder and then you can be sure of the capture. The tape can then be used to digitalise.

What's the show? If it's this good I want to see it too. I have a USB capture device that I could use, but I'd need to record it on video first as the PC is nowhere near the sky box.

    The show is no good.

If you really must know, it's the RTE Weather. The reason why I want to capture it ? One of my digital photo's will feature as the backdrop to the weather forecast. And I want to capture my 3 seconds of fame !

    Anyone help ?

    Ah, now I see.

You're in Swords eh? I'm in Limerick so probably not much use to you. But I'd recommend that you record it yourself on video, for peace of mind, then surely someone would convert that to a divx or mpeg file for you. I would anyway, if I were near you, but I'm not very reliable when it comes to remembering what's on TV, I always forget.

I'll try to get it for you. I have a video capture card, but I've had a LOT of stability issues with it recently (so I'm a dodgy prospect). It'll be in mpg format. I'm in Skerries so you can either drop out to pick it up, or I'll stick it in the post for you.

very kind Khannie. Could you upload it somewhere ? I can give you access to an ftp site.

I might just record it on VCR too to be sure I have a copy.

Yeah, I can upload it no bother. I have admin on unreal.ie, so I'll stick it up there.

I'd say the VCR backup is a good idea too. :)

Have you a time and date?

Others might want to offer too, just in case mine goes tits up.

I've got a pretty reliable TV capture system going, let me know the date/time/channel and I should be able to record it for you also. Like Khannie, it'll be mpg format. Note you want to watch it with RTE, their scheduling is the pits and programmes often run late.

Khannie, blorg - according to the RTE Guide, there is a News and Weather @ 1pm for 10mins - tomorrow, Sunday on RTE1. That would probably be the easiest to get.

Failing that, we're talking the weather bulletin after RTE News: Six One @ 6pm (around 6:20) or the weather after the 9 o clock news (around 9:15/20).

Can one or both of you get one of these for me ?

    Thanks very much.

Only read this again this after noon but got Six One and the Nine O'Clock News fine. I presume your photo is of the windmills? Nice photo, the weather guy makes reference to it on Six One. I can convert to xvid and upload somewhere or otherwise if you want to PM your address I can send the full recordings on to you on DVD.

Would anyone on this thread be willing convert a football match from video to DVD

Will pay for postage and include DVD etc

Trying to do a favour for a friend abroad and a DVD would be easier to post

    Thanks
