Giuliana Sgrena, the Italian journalist who was fired upon by US troops after she was released from captivity in Iraq, claimed that the US army's account of the insident is different to what actually happened.

In recent days, it has been revealed by italian TV channel RAInews24 that the US used white phospherous on civilians in Fallujah. (theres a thread in politics about it) .

But here is a theory. Was Sigrena targeted deliberately to keep the use of such weapons out of the news? Could she have even known about it? Are the two incidents connected? your thoughts.

Read some where that US military were firing on hotels where journalist were staying but i think what happend was because of nervous soldiers at the checkpoint.

It's an interesting case, and an interesting and plausible theory by Billy, it would depend on whether she had uncovered any evidence of the use of phosphorous or not. Another plausible and widely cited theory is that the US could not have had the Italians successfully recover a hostage so soon after the US left one of their hostages to die (can't remember his name, but he died as a result of the US refusing to deal with terrorists). To save face, and bad publicity, the US probably decided that the Italian extrication of Sgrena should have been unsuccessful also.
