    Be slightly optimistic rory!

The deepstack tournys are really good, can be a bit time consuming for a small profit tho....

Yeh cheers culchie, Im gonna start reading a few books in a while. Not for online though! Ive TOTALLY lost interest in online poker as a profit making game!

Ive exhausted basically every method to try and improve my game online but the bottom line is I am very, very, very unlucky in online. Ive gone through my hands with other players, I even asked a friend to watch me play over a week period, but the simple fact of the matter is I AM UNLUCKY!!!

When you lose 70 -80% of pots when your miles ahead, when you win on aces/ kings less than 20% of the time, when you consistently lose basically every pot you go into ahead.... my stats speak for themselves and its time to hang up my online boots! I have been on a 'bad run' since day run, and am playing now purely out of boredom until the cash in my account runs out.

Will defo look into getting the books though as I want to improve my live game :)

The tourneys take about four hours, although I reckon at least the last half hour is head-up as the blinds are probably 1500-3000 with 270,000 in play.

Tonight when three left the leader had about 190K and 2nd had 43K. I had 40K. The small stacks got it all-in. He had K3 v my A6. Turn a 3.

The previous night I was 31st, which included a 10 minute sin-bin near the end thanks to a software problem (not Irish Broadband, some PokerStars glitch). When I got back I saw QJ and went all-in rashly v QQ.

I like this tournament. Three hours suits me, and you can roll along without too much pressure from big stacks, unlike a 9 or 18 player Sit & Go. And you get good practice playing close to the tournament lead for small money.

I played 2 of them last night too. Nice sized fields and a nice standard - harder than 20STT's but easier than 50MTT's. Almost made the money once but the super LAG guy to my right came over the top of my preflop raise with AK. He had J8 and obviously hit his 8. Both of us were well stacked but I just had to call him because he was super loose and about 40% of my money was already in there with the raise.

a little off topic but here goes...

Do Pokerstars let you cash back to your credit card, i used to play on there about 15 months ago but stoped when i couldnt cash back to my visa, has it changed?

No, Neteller, Cheque, Firepay etc but not back to CC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,356 ✭✭✭NeVeR

i might go back to it, and get the cheqe (IF i win),,, i remember once i started with 50 and with 3 hours and playing $1/$2 no-limit i was up to over $1000.

I could be wrong, I use neteller, but I think they allow you to cash back to your credit card to the amount that you deposited.

4 hours is OK for a MTT, might try these. Good result Kincsem. Or they all $20 and $50 ?

Rory ... when you go buying books, make sure Zen and the Art of Poker is the first one you read, because you are going to go from blonde to grey before you hit 30 the way you are going.

You need to find 'Zen' ! .... Quickly.

this may be an unbelievably stupid question, but how do these tourneys work? Is it really just a 180player MTT, or does it work like a shootout or something? I've never played in one, and never seen one, but it sounds interesting.

Also those deepstack tourneys... going to have to have a look at those.... is it only pokerstars they have them?

It's a 180 player Sit and Go. They start when 180 players are registered. Top 18 pays.

hmmm... okay.. its early... and I slept in this morning, so the heads not with it...

so its basically an MTT, just with a pre-set number of players

Yes and a flexible starting time.

I have played a couple of these and also finished in the money for one of them. I erally like this tournament, for what I am looking for it is just about perfect. $20 buy in, a freezeout, and 180 people is just right. I will be playing alot of these in the future.

And their Irish pub supporters are idiot clones of eachother with their pristine starched celtic shirts, drainpipe jeans and crew cut hair cuts, waltzing into the bookies in little clusters on match day like they know what their doing.

I might play a couple of those 20+2 sng's on stars instead of the tuesday poker.ie tournie to avoid that ginit who bets "273" or "89".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

Yeh he was so fcuking annoying.... what is the point in betting such stupid amounts?

I'm definitely playing next tuesdays game. Didn't hit any major bad beats until I got knocked out on one heads up, so it's probably been the most succesful game all month!

Think I'll try out the 180 player SnG too. Anyone know the usual times they start registering? Or is there always one going?

Always gonig. They've also said they're going to have them at different amounts and field sizes. I hope they don't put on too many or they'll take a lot longer to fill.

    Going OO/T and lower but
No, no. "Super Cali" was a triumph alright, but the bestest ever was this one in my local rag....a guy had escaped from a mental hospital and raped 3 women in a launderette, leading to the headline "Nut screws washers and bolts". :)
