I hear that if installing XP with sp2 from a Dell reinstall CD onto a brand spanking sata drive, that the sata drivers are already included with the cd, so that I can just set up my sata drive and use it as if it were a normal ide drive ie plug in and install windows straight off?

This would be a great help seeing as I have no floppy drive of any kind for drivers...

as far as i know it depends on the bios you have. I installed xp pro sp1 on a Dim 5000 with sata and had no problems

I got at 8400 from Dell in Jan. First thing I did was to wipe the HD and repartition it. Luckily for me the Win XP SP2 Cd had the sata drivers in it or I'd have looked very stupid ringing dell up and saying I had wiped the drive and no i couldn't ghost it back to factory setting because I had fdisk'd that too... ;-)
