I dont usually carry tape around the town though, stamps are supposed to stick. Its like there just selling bits of normal paper and expecting them to stick.

Perhaps you should try licking the back of them?

Maybe people were licking them and getting poisoned by the glue... So they tamed down the glue.

What ever happened perforations? You don't get decent perforations these days... when you have a form or anything with a section to tear off it always goes all over the place and is really untidy... What happened to you perforation? You used to be cool!

there were sticker stamps once upon a time, a far more cop-onish way of applying stamps to a letter. why did they not last?

Then carry tape around with you, or pritt stick.
    Problem solved.

i think people who are telling the OP to use tape or glue are missing the point - they are supposed to ****ing stick themselves.

Did you ever consider that it may be your tongue that is not sticky enough?

The self-adhesive stamps are available. You can buy them in packs so they last a long while if you don't post things that often. I get them and use them. No need for any more licking of stamps. I get self-adhesive envelopes too, so no licking required there either, and evnvelopes are always worse than stamps when it comes to licking them and trying to keep them closed.

It's all part of the cut-backs in services before they privatise the Post... under private ownership you have to provide your own glue, post box, collection and delivery... it would cost the Fat Cats money to have to provide a service that they will only be charging €25.95 for!!!
