Is there a condition/disease that gives people sickly sweet breaths? I know one explanation is Ketosis caused by Atkins Diet.

Ketoacidosis/ketosis does cause a sweet smell. You get this smell after you have had a few pints because the breakdown product of ethanol is ketones which are sickly sweet. Smell of drink = smell of ketones!

It also occurs in diabetes when the body breaksdown fat to provide energy because it is unable to absorb glucose. In the atkins diet, you do not ingest glucose, forcing the body to instead metabolise fat and this also produces ketones

Thanks for that. I had a feeling it occurs in diabetes.
