    Hello,

I am considering buying a Dell Inspiron 9300 from the Dell Factory Outlet in Limerick. I will be paying €985 for the entire package, can anyone tell me if this is a good deal:

    Inspiron 9300 Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz, 2 MB L2
    i9300 17.0 WXGA+ (1440 x 900) LCD
    60GB 7200rpm ATA/100 HDD
    768MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (1x256MB + 1x512MB)
    256MB NVIDIA Geforce Go 6800
    8X DVD / 24X CD-RW Combo Drive with Software
    9 cell Li-Ion 80WHr primary battery
Intel Pro WLAN 2200 802.11b Mbp EUR

The hard-drive is a wee bit small, but I would buy a couple of internal drives, and use the USB ports and hard-disk adapter to connect them for storage.
No DVD-Burner. I found this unusual, but once again I could buy an external burner for less than €80.
So all in all is this a good deal? The scratch is there, but does not bother me, as I will just be using it on the Train/Bus etc.
Are memory upgrades easy to install. I would like to buy 256 maybe 512 more of memory, but was wondering how many memory slots this laptop does have, and is it easy install this memory?
I will be using this machine for some programming, Music Streaming, some games (Age of Empires, RollerCoaster Tycoon etc). Just the general stuff. I think I'm getting a good deal, but not an expert.

Thats a steal at that price. Just use a network drive like this:

Then purchase a hard drive of whatever size you want and you can access all the data as a a network drive..

With a 256MB GFX Card it'll be perfect ofr games etc.

RAM is simple to add. Look up the spec of the 9300, that'll tell you the max. I'd guess 2GB

It seems alike a pretty god deal. I've got a 9300. Pentium M 1.83, 1024 mb ram, 128 ati radeon graphics card, wuxga trubrite screen (1900x1200), dvd burner. But I paid €1500 in july. Still very happy with the deal as dell dont seem to offer that package for that price anymore. I priced one up by customising a 9300 on their site and came to nearly €1900. Great laptopo by the way. I'd have no hesitation in recommending it.

How many hours battery would you get off a 9300?

    ie only internet/office stuff etc?

I have a 9200 which is the previous model of this. Depending on what I set the brightness to I get anything up to 4 1/2 hours off the battery.

    Cool thanks.

I would like my laptop to have at least that much battery life but
the acer I'm thinking about in the other thread only does about 3.
